At Nolan’s, we’re always proud to support artisan producers of quality Irish food and drink. This is not a ‘programme’, it’s our whole philosophy and has been for years. We love their enthusiasm for producing high quality products that taste great and are made as traditionally as possible. Our supermarket is full of interesting products, and we love to receive suggestions from our customers when they encounter new brands.
Recently, we introduced an innovative product to our shelves – ‘Irish Black Butter’, Black Butter? We were curious too! Interestingly it is not actually a dairy product. This delicious new spread contains Armagh bramley apples, and features cider, brandy, treacle and a blend of spices. The result is a perfect blend between sweet and savoury. As the name suggests, the ‘butter’ is dark in colour. It has a rich aroma, and the warming spread can be used in a variety of ways. Simply try it on a slice of toast, or with scones and cream. It is also a great accompaniment to a cheese board, or perfect as a ham glaze, ideal for this time of year for those lovely autumn recipes.
An additional new Irish brand in store is ‘Fixx’ – the grounded coffee company. After a recent successful tasting session in-store, our customers were already requesting for more coffee varieties form this new brand. We listened and now we also stock their organic fair trade coffee in beans and ground, the decaf in beans and ground, and their Cubano beans. Fixx Cubano is among the Great Taste Winners of 2018. It was described by the judges as, “a great expression of a dark roast coffee, deep and rich, full-bodied and smooth we really enjoyed it”. Form an orderly queue please.
Another popular brand is the award-winning product range from ‘Harvest Moon’. They were Blas na HEireann winners in gold and silver in 2015. The Harvest Moon range features hummus, pesto, vegan pate, soups and tapenade, they are all 100% natural, and freshly made in Ireland.
Why not stock up on this range to dress up those serving platters.
