At Nolan’s, we are renowned for our interesting and unique product mix. This is due to two factors.
Our buyers are always looking for fresh new international and artisan products. Our customers are a great source of suggestions for new ranges. We enjoy the challenge of sourcing these.
In light of this, there’s a newbie on the block, and it’s in our extensive fruit and vegetable section. When a customer recently came back from a Spanish holiday, they had enjoyed a particular tapas dish so much, they put in a request to Nolan’s to stock it.
We listened – step forward the ‘Padrón Pepper’ You may have noticed it nestled in with our great selection of vegetables. This little pepper is generally green in colour, and as the name suggests, it comes from the town of Padrón, in north western Spain. So popular are these peppers, the town holds an annual fiesta to celebrate them!
While usually a mild flavoured dish, the story goes that one in ten of these peppers packs a fiery hot punch. It’s an interesting myth, but having tried them, we’re not so sure. Nutritionally they are filled with vitamins, protein, iron and calcium. The extra bonus is that they are very quick and easy to make.
