Paddy Nolan started out in Clontarf in 1954 as a local convenience store. In those days a bag of sugar would have cost a half penny and a shilling would cover most of your grocery expenses. You could also have expected a very personal level of service where your grocer would greet you with a smile and you were assured of quality and value together with a real sense of community.
While the “shilling” may have long since disappeared, the traditional Nolan family ethos remains true to this day, so you will still find the service with a smile and the guaranteed quality that has placed Nolans at the heart of the Clontarf community.
Together with his wife Una and subsequently with his family Richard, Paul and Lisa, Paddy helped to expand Nolan’s into the thriving business it is today. Many positive changes have come with the years, choice and variety being key, a fact that we are very mindful of. We provide a wide range of produce throughout our store, from the freshest of Irish produce, organic and artisan foods, the finest meats, cheese and wines, right through to household goods.
What really sets Nolans apart is that we sit at the heart of a fantastic community and we strive to deliver the traditional values and customer satisfaction levels put in place by the late Paddy Nolan. We are to this day your local convenience store but with the choice and value of a great supermarket.
