Spain

Spain has over 2.9 million acres of vineyards and is the third largest producer of wine in the world, after France and Italy. The country has an abundance of native grape varieties, with over 400 varieties planted throughout Spain. However, 80 percent of the country's wine production is from only 20 grapes—including Tempranillo, Albariño, Garnacha, Palomino, Airen, Macabeo, Parellada, Xarel·lo, Cariñena and Monastrell. Major Spanish wine regions include the Rioja and Ribera del Duero, which are known for their Tempranillo production; Jerez, the home of the fortified wine Sherry; Rías Baixas in the northwest region of Galicia, known for its white wines made from Albariño; and Catalonia which includes the Cava and still wine producing regions of the Penedès as well the Priorat region.

On the nose there are aromas of sweet, creamy black fruits swirled with aromatic notes of rose petals.  A very sweet, creamy style on the palate too, hugely rich, rather brooding, with a youthful, brutal structure underneath it all.  There is a fine quality to the tannins and a lovely length.

Marques de Riscal reserve 2006

It"s got a balsamic aroma with notes of ripe fruit.  In the mouth it's fresh, light and persistent with soft and round tannins.

Gran feudo seleccion especial

Seleccion Especial 2007 is a modern wine expressing at its full the character of the Tempranillo grape that has been complementted with cabrnet Sauvignon and Merlot.  Aging for six months in French and American oak barrels has resulted in an extremely expressive red, juicy and fresh, with good structure, velvety and elegant at the same time.  The perfect match for pasta, asian dishes, risottos, and all kind of meats.

Monte alina tinto Roble

This wine is made from 100% temprranillo grapes.  Maturing the wine for 3 months in American oak barrals, make a perfect balance between aromatic gruitness of the grape with a subtle touch of wood flavor.

Torres Sangre de toro

Deep ruby colour with a hint of ochre,  Rich complex mediterranean aromas with exuberant notes of spices and black berries.  Velvety tannins on the palate with elegant flavors of liquorice and dark forest fruits.Perfect with stews, game, meat paellas and traditional mountain cuisine.

Paco & lola, Albarino

Apperance: Straw yellow colour with hints of green in the rim.  cleanand brilliant.  Complexwith outstanding aromatic intensity.  fine notes of fruit, herbaceous notes and floral base notes.  Very fresh flavors balanced by lively acidity giving a crisp, attractive taste, good body and a pleasant aroma on the palate.  A varietal character that is elegant and persistent. Paco & Lola is the perfect duo for sushi, fish, seafood, tempura, pasta, risotto and white meats.

Baluarte Verdejo 2009

A mild 2009 summer has given healthy grapes with great aromatic potential and a balanced acidity. Baluarte Verdejo is excellent alone or paired with shellfish, fish and white meat.

Marques de Riscal, Sauvignon Blanc

This wine is made from the french Sauvignon blanc grape, cultivated by Marques de Riscal in Rueda in 1974.  High in aromatic intensity, it reveals ripe fruit and hints of citrus, pineapple and grapefruit.  On the palate a crisp and fresh attack with mineral notes is followed by a long herbaceous finish.  It is fermented for 20 days in stainless steel vats at a controlled temprature of between 13 and 16 celcius.  This wine is the perfect match for many shallfish and pasta dishes.  Ideal as an aperitif.
